Last week marked the addition of our newest community Education Foundation member, Mullaley in North Western NSW, just west of Gunnedah. The move was initiated by Ian Mackey, A Sydney Chartered Accountant with property interests in the area and a passion for the country. Ian first read about the Country Education Foundation in the July edition of RM Williams Outback magazine and could see a real need in his 'adopted' community for a local foundation. Mullaley is a small but motivated rural community where students need to travel daily to either Gunnedah or Coonabarabran to attend high school. When leaving high school and thinking about their further education and vocation choices, the need to relocate temporarily or permanently is a great hurdle for many. A local education foundation will provide much needed assistance to help the dreams and goals of local youth become a reality.
