Local members kick off Broken Hill foundation

Testament to the motivation of Rotarians, a group of local members, one also being the local Hungry Jacks Franchisee, Carrie Oakley, have taken up the challenge of setting up an Education Foundation for Broken Hill youth.

Carrie said that since moving to Broken Hill from Melbourne a couple of years ago to run her own Hungry Jacks restaurant, she can see the real challenges that students in the district have when accessing post high school education / training and vocation opportunities. The distances our kids have to travel is vast and with that, so to is the cost that distance adds. Many kids out here do school of the air or travel huge distances every day to attend school. As a community, we want to do our bit to encourage and support our youth to achieve. Its essential for our future to invest in our kids Carrie says.
