About cit
The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) is the ACT's largest tertiary education provider. CIT's students include school leavers, first-time employees, those seeking to change careers, or to enhance their existing career.
CIT offers over 500 courses, including bachelor degrees to local, national and international students to equip them to work effectively in business and industry or go onto further tertiary study.
CIT teachers have industry experience and will work with you in a flexible, supportive environment, including smaller class sizes, hands-on activities, great facilities and equipment. Students benefit from this expertise, support and personal attention.
how the cit & cefa partnership works for cefa students
CIT's commitment to helping greater numbers of rural youth achieve their tertiary goals is demonstrated by their Education Partnership with CEFA.
To support those rural students who receive grants from their local education foundations, CIT provides additional financial assistance.
Eligiblity for co-funding from CIT is based on the following criteria:
- Co-funding is only available to students who have received grants from their local Education Foundations and who are currently studying at CIT
- First year students will be given co-funding priority. Any funds remaining after the distribution to first year students will be distributed among students in second, third and fourth year studies.
- Students will receive a dollar-for-dollar grant match unless the total of the grants of all CEFA students at CIT in a particular year is greater than CIT's annual allocation. If the annual limit is exceeded, CEFA will pro-rata the grants and cap co-funding at $1,500.
CIT assistance for all rural students
CIT students are able to access a variety of scholarships and grants. These are not limited to CEFA students alone - all students are welcome to apply according to the selection criteria. Some of the CIT scholarships and grants include:
- ACT Government Scholarships
- Smith Family Scholarships
- Indigenous Scholarships
- Zonta Club Scholarships
- Soroptimist Scholarships
- Refugee Scholarships
