After a very successful first year in Mullaley the committee decided to increase the reach of our local education fund to now cover a much greater area so that we can assist more youth in the district.
Gunnedah, Curlewis, Kelvin, Mullaley, Tambar Springs, Carol and Breeza.
The Gunnedah district has several smaller townships with schools that go to 6th class but then all students travel into one of the two high schools in Gunnedah.
Located 440km north west of Sydney, Gunnedah is situated in the heart of the Namoi Valley. With its population of 12,819 Gunnedah offers a relaxed quality lifestyle within a resilient economic area. Gunnedah is known as the ‘Koala Capital’ of the World’ due to the abundance of healthy koalas living right in the township.
Surrounded by rich fertile soils, agriculture is a large part of Gunnedah’s economy, supporting both winter and summer cropping, cattle and sheep.
Gunnedah is located on one of the largest underground coal seams in NSW, which contributes significantly to the shire’s economy and is an important source of employment.
