The annual grant reporting process is always an exciting one for CEFA as we learn about the generous grants awarded to local students by our Education Foundations. It is also a time to reflect on the incredible additional support provided by our Education Partners and donors - without whom we would not be able to continue to help thousands of rural and regional youth achieve their post high school aspirations. In 2012, we were able to again increase the number of grants provided in comparison to previous years. This academic year 386 recipients received grants from our Education Foundations. The total value of these locally given grants was a staggering $404,035, an increase of eight per cent on the 2011 grants. Our Education Partners are also instrumental in the financial assistance they give to our students.
In 2012 alone the Education Partners provided $228,845 in co-funding, with many CEFA grant recipients receiving a dollar-for-dollar match of their locally given grant. The total value of financial support provided to youth in CEFA communities in 2012 came to $797,430. This funding comes in the form of local grants, Education Partner co-funding, external scholarships such as the Rotary Club of Sydney scholarship and CEFA’s education aspiration enhancement programs.
We are extremely proud of the efforts of our local Education Foundations and incredibly grateful for the support given to us by our donors and Education Partners. We would like to thank you all for your collaboration with us as we continue in our efforts to change the lives of young rural and regional Australians through further education.
