The Peter Westblade Scholarship

A scholarship for those passionate about agriculture…
Agriculture offers the most dynamic and diversified number of career pathways of any industry in Australia. Across agriculture there are a hugel range of jobs on offer for university graduates, including disciplines like biochemistry, agricultural engineering, in-field agronomy, policy advice, investment analysis and industrial relations to name just a few. The Horizon Scholarship has been developed to support the next generation of agricultural leaders, who will take up the challenge of farming for the future. JB Fairfax Award for Rural Journalism
This Award encourages talented young writers who are passionate about rural issues to transform their passion into a career. Valued at $10,000 in support of studies and an internship, as well as the opportunity to have their article published in a major rural publication.

National Rural Health Alliance Scholarships
The National Rural Health Alliance said applications are now open for the Rural Australia Medical Undergraduate Scholarship (RAMUS) Scheme, funded by the Australian Government and designed to encourage medical students with a rural background to pursue a medical career in rural, regional or remote Australia. Successful applicants will receive un-bonded scholarships worth $10,000 a year while completing a standard medical degree at their chosen university. Subject to availability, 120-140 new RAMUS scholarships will be awarded in 2012 through a competitive application process. Successful applicants will be selected on the basis of their background of having lived in rural Australia, demonstrated financial need and their commitment to work in rural, regional or remote Australia in the future.
Noel Fairweather Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship for rural Year 12 students intending to travel away from home to pursue further education. Valued at $2,000.

The Primary Industry Centre for Science Education (PICSE) - Industry Placement Scholarship
A one-week Residential Camp at a partner university, one week of Industry Placement in January where students work as a scientist alongside researchers, Reporting Back session and a scholarship cheque to the value of $300.

Nursing & Allied Health Scholarship & Support Scheme (NAHSSS): Allied Health Undergraduate Scholarship
Available to students enrolled in or intending to enrol in, an accredited/approved undergraduate or graduate entry allied health course.

Australian Scholarships Foundation (ASF)
The Australian Scholarships Foundation (ASF) is the only Australian organisation solely focused on funding and facilitating scholarships for Australian not‐for‐profit (NFP) directors and staff to undertake education, training and mentoring programs that improve their ability to lead and manage their organisations. Lisa Fox Indigenous Fellowship Program
A new fully-funded, postgraduate fellowship opportunity is now being administered by the Aurora Project. The Lisa Fox Indigenous Fellowship Program will enable one Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander postgraduate each year to undertake a Masters (MA) or Doctoral (PhD) program at New York University (NYU). The Fellowship is tenable for up to four years and covers course fees and travel, plus an annual stipend of approximately US$30,000 (A$29,394) for accommodation and living expenses.

Yvonne Cohen Award for Indigenous Australian Youth
Nominations open to Indigenous individuals under 30 years of age looking for a leg-up into a creative career. Valued at $5,000.

The Charlie Perkins Scholarships
Two scholarships for Indigenous postgraduates to study at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge for up to three years. Awarded to students who have been accepted to either the University of Oxford or Cambridge. In most instances, this will require a First Class Honours degree or a very strong Second Class Honours degree.

Australian Institute of Personal Trainers (AIPT)
The AIPT is a Registered Training Organisation certified to deliver Certificate III and IV in Fitness and qualifies graduates to become Personal Trainers. Scholarships are currently available for Indigenous recipients. Application form available here.

NSW Farmers Association Tertiary Scholarships
NSW Farmers run a scholarship program every year available for students of NSW Farmers members. While there is a specific scholarship for students studying a vocational course there are a number of general scholarships available to all students. Eight scholarships valued at $5000 each are on offer to students committed to farming and rural communities grow and develop in the future. NSW Regional Dentistry Scholarship
The NSW Regional Dentistry Scholarship is available to assist a student from regional New South Wales who is commencing dentistry studies at an Australian University in 2012. This one-year scholarship of $4,800 aims to support a student with strong links to regional communities to train for a professional dental career in regional NSW. Application form available here. Cowra CWA Medical Education Grant

Ben Chifley Scholarships
Ten scholarships are available to first-year apprentices from country NSW. Each Scholarship is valued at $5,000 for every year of the apprenticeship up to a maximum of $15,000. At least two of the Scholarships will be awarded to people of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background each year.

RAS NSW Foundation Rural Scholarships
Available to people wanting to make a difference in their rural NSW community. Valued at $1,500 (part-time) or $5,000 (full-time) and available for TAFE, college or university studies.

Kangaroo Island Freemason's Scholarship
Available to any Kangaroo Island resident wishing to obtain experience, knowledge or skill in a particular field of endeavour in Australia or overseas. Applications close 30 June each year. Valued at up to $3,000.

Foundation for Young Australians - Opportunity Scholarships
Enables talented students with financial need to pursue their dreams by purchasing equipment and resources in relation to curriculum-related programs and activities. Valued at up to $1,000.
