ABOUT UWS

UWS is a major urban university spread over six campuses in Greater Western Sydney.

We are enterprising and forward-looking and committed to access and equity in higher education. We put knowledge to work in the education of our students for employment, in the application of research to contemporary problems, and in mutually enriching partnerships with communities.

Our students are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to providing students with both the information they need to succeed in today’s social, political and economic climate and the skills that will help them to adapt for tomorrow’s. We want students’ experience of University to be positive, enjoyable and enriching.

Despite its size and geographic spread, UWS is known as a friendly and welcoming place where each campus is a community in microcosm and staff will go out of their way to help. We are continuing to improve services and amenities to enhance the student experience.

To help make university study attractive and accessible, scholarships are available both for high-achievers and for those who are economically or educationally disadvantaged.

Many of our courses are developed with industry input and taught by people who are leaders in their field, keeping our students in touch with real world needs and best practice. Employers often comment on the practical approach and flexibility of UWS graduates, who are known to 'hit the ground running'. The success of our students is testimony to the quality of a UWS education.

The UWS Foundation, established in 1991, is a wholly owned entity of UWS.

The objective of the Foundation is to support and assist the UWS Board of Trustees to encourage and foster interest and financial support from present and past students, parents of students and friends of the University in order to preserve, improve, extend and develop its standards, services, property and facilities.

Through sustained partnerships between the University, the community and the world of business, the UWS Foundation aims to support educational and regional development by raising funds for important projects such as scholarships, prizes, research, teaching positions, academic programs and teaching facilities.

With the desire to make a difference and a passion for providing opportunity, the UWS Foundation is bringing knowledge to life.

how the uWS/UWS Hawkesbury foundation & CEFA partnership works for cefa students

UWS's commitment to helping greater numbers of rural youth achieve their tertiary goals is demonstrated by their Education Partnership with CEFA.

To support those rural students who receive grants from their local education foundations, UWS provides additional financial assistance.

Eligiblity for co-funding from UWS is based on the following criteria:

  • Co-funding is only available to students who have received grants from their local Education Foundations and who are currently studying at UWS
  • First year students will be given co-funding priority. Any funds remaining after the distribution to first year students will be distributed among students in second, third and fourth year studies.
  • Students will receive a dollar-for-dollar grant match unless the total of the grants of all CEFA students at UWS in a particular year is greater than UWS's annual allocation. If the annual limit is exceeded, CEFA will pro-rata the grants and cap co-funding at $1,500.
