U@UTS Day – 13th August 2008
UTS is proud to announce a unique project they are funding in collaboration with the Country Education Foundation of Australia (CEFA). Twenty students from three rural NSW high schools where CEFA has local education foundations have been chosen for an all expenses paid trip to Sydney to attend UTS’ U@UTS Careers Day. These communities include Coonamble, Balranald and Wee Waa.
The purpose of this program is to give 20 young rural students in Year 10 the opportunity of experiencing a university; its environs, subjects offered, staff and on-campus accommodation, well before they make their final decision about subject selection or possible career choices. It is an opportunity to dispel fears or misconceptions about university generally or moving a metropolitan area in the future to undertake tertiary studies.
