About une

The University of New England (UNE) is the smart choice for students of the future. UNE combines the highest academic standards and industry-valued qualifications with flexible modes of learning.

With a history extending back to the 1920s, UNE has a well-earned reputation as one of Australia's great teaching, training and research universities.

The majority of first-year, on-campus students choose to live in on campus residences, within easy walking distance of lectures and tutorials. In addition to providing food and lodgings, the colleges offer organised social activities as well as academic and pastoral support networks.

The University prides itself that students from more than 50 nations study on-campus, providing a cosmopolitan atmosphere. The campus is well equipped with its own medical facilities, a post office, credit union, shops and restaurants, as well as a full range of sporting facilities. A regular bus service links the campus to town.

how the une & cefa partnership works for cefa students

UNE's commitment to helping greater numbers of rural youth achieve their tertiary goals is demonstrated by their Education Partnership with CEFA.

To support those rural students who receive grants from their local education foundations, CSU provides additional financial assistance to first-year, full-time undergraduate students. This assistance is in the form of $500 scholarships.

To be selected by CEFA for one of these Scholarships, the student:

  • must be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident of Australia;
  • must be enrolled on a full-time basis in an undergraduate degree at UNE; and
  • must have been received a grant from their local education foundation in that same year.

The Scholarships are intended to assist students with the direct costs associated with higher education including, but not limited to, transport, accommodation, fees, textbooks, equipment, fieldwork and other related education expenses.

Applications should be made directly to the students' local CEFA Education Foundations.

UNE assistance to rural students

UNE students are able to access a variety of scholarships and grants. These are not limited to CEFA students alone - all students are welcome to apply according to the selection criteria. UNE is committed to its rural and regional communities and will offer around 40 scholarships each year to assist commencing students from these areas. In particular, a UNE Country Scholarship will provide successful applicants with $5,000 for every year of full-time study. More information can be found at www.une.edu.au/scholarships/.
