Community Profile:

Coonamble is located in the north west of NSW, approximately 1 ½ hours drive from Dubbo, 7 hours drive from Sydney and 8 hours drive from Brisbane. Coonamble is situated on the Great Inland Way an alternative 'flat track' joining Queensland and the southern states. The Coonamble district spans almost 10,000 square kilometres from the edge of the Warrumbungle Mountains, across the Castlereagh Plains to the Macquarie Marshes.

Coonamble Shire has a population of approximately 3,000 and is renowned for its rural industries, which include extensive broad acre cropping, plus large cattle and sheep populations. The town acts as a service centre for the surrounding area offering two primary schools and one high school plus a hospital and associated health services, financial, professional, commercial and retail offices and shops.
