Community Profile:

Braidwood is on the road between Canberra and the coast and is surrounded by a number of small villages. In 2006 the entire township was listed as an historic entity by the NSW heritage Office. Braidwood is a diverse commercial centre with production of beef cattle and sheep the main pastoral industries. There are also stone fruit orchards, vineyards and emerging new ventures such as alpacas, lavender and berries. The peaceful village atmosphere also attracts many artists and skilled craftspeople, and quality restaurants and cafes cater for Braidwood's increasing number of tourists. Braidwood is surrounded by beautiful national parks - Deua, Budawang, Monga - with lookouts, waterfalls, bushwalking trails, caves, and native flora and fauna.
