35 Scholarships Granted For The 2009 Rabobank Young Rural Leaders Summit

Rabobank and the Thyne Reid Foundation have generously funded 35 scholarships to rural young people from CEFA communities to attend the 2009 Rabobank Young Rural Leaders Summit.

Students from as far away as Cunnamulla, Kangaroo Island and Coonamble were granted the scholarships after being identified as potential leaders of the future based on the qualities they demonstrate at school and within the local community.

Following the success of last year’s pilot program, the 2009 intensive seven-day Summit aims to develop the leadership skills of rural youth and enable them to gain greater confidence and self-awareness. It is also an opportunity for the participants to increase their teamwork skills as well as their time management and problem-solving abilities.

Following the Summit, which is coordinated by Outward Bound Australia, participants will be encouraged to develop and implement a community project aimed at benefiting people within their local region.

CEFA would like to express its immense gratitude to Rabobank and the Thyne Reid Foundation for their ongoing support and generous funding towards the Summit  over the next three years.
